Connie Buckwalter said that the relay will be an adventure which the whole team of 12 members looks forward to running.The foursome like the idea of a relay because it brings out the best of all its members. "We liked running on relays in high school," said team member Justin Krebs of Millersville. "So this will be another attraction to the adventure." He added that the Baltimore team's captain have sent them their relay "legs," and they are looking forward to the challenge. Each member will run three of the 36 segments of the relay, covering a distance of 195 miles, beginning at Mt. Hood and finishing at the Oregon coast town of Seaside. The runners include: Connie Buckwalter, 28, and her husband, Mark Buckwalter, 29, both Solanco High School graduates, and avid competitors in local events. Connie won the Pottstown Preservation 5K and finished second in the Philadelphia Broad Street 10-Mile Run with a personal best, 57:45. Krebs, 24, of Millersville, finished 3rd in the Red Rose. As a Millersville University student, Krebs finished 3rd in the PSAC steeplechase, and finished 14th place in the NCAA East Regional cross country meet. Brenda Pennell, 23, won the 1998 Red Rose Run. This Solanco High School and Millersville University graduate was a member of a state championship cross-country team at Solanco High School.
