INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISING TIPS
Sign Up!
Sign up on the HTC/PTC American Cancer Society fundraising site and make a team or individual fundraising page! You will then be able to send e-mails to everyone about your donation page and fundraising goal!
Make a List and Check It Twice
Make a list of potential sponsors. Include everyone you know. Start by sponsoring yourself. Your gift will set the tone for others to give.
One a Day
Ask one person each day to make a contribution. If you get four gifts of $25, you’ll have raised $100 in less than a week! Don’t be afraid to ask for larger gifts. Cancer is an issue that affects us all. People are happy to support such an important cause.
Double Your Money
Many employers offer matching fund programs. Your $50 donation could turn into $100! Inquire with your personnel department and remind supporters about corporate matching gifts.
The Mighty Pen
Send a handwritten letter to friends, family, and coworkers asking for their support. Let them know if you’re participating in honor of someone special. Explain why the cause is important to you. Don’t forget to send a thank-you note also!
Bring It Along
Take your fundraising information everywhere, and ask those you interact with to sponsor your cause. Remember, the fight against cancer is a great and worthy cause!
Talk It Up
Ask for a few minutes on the agenda of any meeting you’ll be attending. Explain why you’re participating and ask for support. If you’re dedicating your efforts to someone who has had cancer, tell their story.
Offer Food
Offer cookies or other baked goods to your friends, family and coworkers for a small gift to the American Cancer Society.
Clean House
Clean out your garage or home and set up an ACS donation booth in exchange for your finds. Ask your friends and neighbors to donate their “stuff” to you, explaining that all proceeds go to fight for a cure against cancer.
Celebrate
If a birthday or holiday is coming up, tell your family and friends that in lieu of a gift, you would like them to make a donation to your ACS team page online.
Pin It Up
Post your information on the bulletin board at your church or temple, in the office, at the mall, or at school. Make sure to highlight your name, phone number, e-mail address, and your team Web page address.
