HTC & PTC START
The Start of Hood To Coast is at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood. The race begins Friday, Aug. 27 with start waves from 6:30 AM until 6:45 PM. The Start of the Portland To Coast Walk begins under the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland, Friday, Aug. 27 at 3:00 AM, with start waves every 15 minutes. The High School Challenge starts at 6:00PM in one large wave, Friday, Aug. 27, in the same location. We are always on schedule, so don't be late!
It's strongly suggested that only one team vehicle come to the Start area. The second vehicle should go to 'Exchange 6' (Exchange 18 for PTC), thus greatly reducing traffic congestion. Be aware of participants already on the course as you enter the potentially congested Start area.
"Out-of-town" teams receive race numbers, shirts, and vehicle identification signs at the Start Check-In area. Arrive 45-60 minutes in advance of your team start time to collect the necessary materials and check in properly.
Check-In Procedures:
-
Present team safety equipment for inspection at the Equipment Check-in area, 20 minutes prior to Start Time.
-
Show two team reflective vests, two LED lights/flashers, and two flashlights (or approved Hat w/ Headlight).
-
State your team number to Race Officials, and sign alongside your team name on the official team check-in sheet.
Upon Check-In, your team will be issued the current year Race Wrist Wrap. Without your Race Wrist Wrap and approval of Safety Equipment, teams will not be permitted to start.
Teams are announced five minutes prior to their start time. The first runner must be at the Starting Line at that time. |

FINISH ON THE BEACH
The Finish is located on the beach, just north of the Broadway Avenue turnaround in Seaside, Oregon.
Anticipate heavy traffic and parking congestion. HTC/PTC provides free shuttle bus service in Seaside, with designated parking areas for participant use. Click here for Seaside Parking Maps & Routes, also located in race packets.
Teammates often cross the Finish Line with their "anchor" who is officially finishing the race. If your team chooses to do so, make sure that your leg 36 "anchor" leads your team to the Finish Line. Listen for announcements of team members arriving near the finish. The leg 36 person will be the only one to remove the timing chip and be credited with an official finish.
How to Finish Properly
Immediatley after completion of the race, turn in a completed team Scoring Sheet (containing participant leg splits and names). Failure to do so could result in disqualification.
Award Ceremony
Hood To Coast awards will be given to the top six teams in each category, Sunday at 9:30 AM, main Finish stage area.
Portland To Coast Walk and High School Challenge awards will be given to the top six teams in each category, Saturday at 6:00 PM, main Finish stage area.
The winners of the "Best Of" awards (Best Team Name, Best Team Outfit, Best Decorated Van, and Outstanding Volunteer) as well as the overall Top 10 teams and top finishers in the HTC Mens, Womens, and Mixed Open Divisions will be announced at 5:50PM Saturday, before the start of the PTC Awards Ceremony. |
